  • Water skiing, snorkeling, and scuba diving the underwater caves
  • Sight-seeing the beautiful canyons
  • Relaxing in the water of the famous bubbling springs that flow down from the canyon wall into a pool where you can sit, relax and listen to the spring’s continuous flow into the river.

Kayak Rentals:  For those of you who prefer to be closer the the water’s edge, Ruthie’s Rentals is now offering kayaks for rent.  We have several kayaks geared for fishing the river and coves. Details.

History Buffs:     In the city of Del Rio, the Whitehead Memorial Museum offers fun and informative events for the family. Make sure you plan to attend Oktoberfest or the Archeological Fair.   If you don’t mind a short drive, you can visit some Native American Rock Art.  Seminole Canyon is located about 40 miles northwest of Del Rio.  (provide a link to the whitehead memorial and the native American rock art at Seminole canyon.)

Land Lovers:  There are picnic areas and hiking trails open to the public.  If you’re an early riser, you might get a chance to have some coffee with the park ranger or go on a guided bird walk.  In town is Del Rio’s well known Val Verde Winery.  The winery invites you to visit them and enjoy a complimentary tour and tasting. For More information about local events please contact the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce. (provide a link to the winery, and chamber of commerce)

Nature watchers:  You’re in luck:  The serenity and peacefulness of Rough Canyon provides homes to a variety of wildlife.  You can take a hike to spot these animals or admire the white tailed deer that are easily summoned at the sound of a tin can with dried corn inside from your cabin’s deck.  Within minutes you will have wildlife about 40 feet from your deck for your viewing pleasure.  There is a nice population of white tailed deer, quail and rabbits that make their home at Ruthies.  In addition to the deer, the area has several non- native species including Aoudad sheep, Mouflan Sheep and Black Buck.  There is also a wide variety of birds so bring your binoculars.
